brisbane Member	# Reply Checking Colors A Great Tip Most design and production work is done indoors. True colors are viewed outdoors. This tip is simple, yet very powerful. Carry the color outside and check in Sunlight. Sunlight is the natural way of cross referencing what a true color is. Inside the Australia Signs art department we have special flouro tube lighting that is of surgical quality so that colors appear live. But we still carry things outside for checks. Color is not always the same, yet we do our best to match print ink to design, process to output etc. We have posted a great article here explaining why colors appear different.

Photoshop and other software make screen values that represent a common color not dependent on a light source. {Quote: Wiki Pedia} If the light isn't a pure white source (as in the case of nearly all forms of artificial lighting), the resulting spectrum will appear a slightly different color. Red paint, viewed under blue light, may appear black. Red paint is red because it reflects only the red components of the spectrum. Blue light, containing none of these, will create no reflection from red paint, creating the appearance of black. The printing equipment we employ, uses the latest Kyocera Print Head technology and solvent outdoor grade ink. We get the closet possible color match to file when the art files are set correctly. If you would like a pre print test on material, let us know, it's only a small charge.
