Vector or Bitmap Files

Vector files are 'drawings' created in programs such as Corel Draw or Illustrator. Vector files can be enlarged without losing any resolution or clarity, because it's made up of lines, rather than pixels. Vector art can also be laser cut, or plotter cut.

Vector art cannot be a photograph, as photgraphs are made of pixels. Any photo you view on a computer is a bitmap image (pixels).

Bitmap files are 'images' and have names like JPEG, GIFF, PSD, and TIFF. Bitmap files can be used for digital printing, offset printing or screen printing. the only way to output a bitmap is to print it.

Signs Companies prefer vector files (except when working with photographs or gradients), because we know the quality of output of a vector file will be clean and crisp.

We recieve many logos in bitmap format, and will ask the client if they would like us to redraw it in vector format for optimal output.

We reccomend every company has their logo in vector format, as it can be used for all types of advertising and signage.
