Quick Select Layer in Photoshop

To select the entire Layer Pixel contents, Click CTRL A

This will select all and the marching ants will appear to far canvas sides.

Press CTRL D to deselect.

Fixed Sized Selection for Photoshop

To paste images exaclty where you want them to appear on the canvas, you can also make the 'marching ants' (selection bounding box) an exact size.

To do so, Choose > Selection Tool
On the window (or open via Title Bar > Window) click the drop down box and choose Fixed Size.

Once you have made a correct size that matches your 'cut and paste' image, use the move tool to put the marching ants into the correct position of your canvas. Remember, to get rulers click and drag a ruler from either the top canvas bar or left canvas bar. Use zoom to put the rulers into position.

Then, with your fixed selection size on, click and it will be perfectly sized.

Then, cut and paste, place or drag your image inside the marching ants. Perfectly positioned.
