Chances are that competition is also very close to your location. An easy way to stay infront of a competitor is to just show you're open.

At night, make sure the car park is lit.

During the day, make sure that your signs show where you are... and that you're open.

Also make sure that lights are near the inside of your windows. A bright shop gets more customers than a dark window dressing. Try it, turn off the display lights and walk outside your shop.

It looks closed.

Always keep your display lights on when your trading hours are open.

Add bright sale signs and window dressing that looks bright!
