Vector and Marketing Costs

We have found this simple business tip that many people miss out on and it eventually costs them lots more money than it need to.

Draw your logos and main business document graphics in Vector.

Vector is a drawing in lines. Example is the imagery here.

As a business grows many clients provide artwork for printing, web design, signage, clothing etc that is always innappropriate. Make your design team your best friend by supplying a vector based logo. We understand that you may not have the computer software to use it, but if you have a .ai or .cdr or .eps or similar stored on a CD, you will always get better quality from lots of different suppliers, AND, be better able to control your print quality.

Trade Term: Vector
Vector equals lines, curves and combined shapes that are scalable and smooth regardless of size. Drawing in Vector has many advantages including being suitable for:
1. Signage Reproduction
2. Screenprinting
3. Engraving
4. Laser Cutting
5. Digital Printing
6. Embroidery
7. Plaques and Trophies
8. Other machinery based ways of production.

--------------------------------------------

EPS, DXF or other Vector computer formats.
Originally, all computer images were drawn using vector lines and curves. These are now hybrids and work in signage production but may suffer limitations and accuracy. QS recommend specific drawings be set for all logos, lettering and field applications capable of reproducing such up-to 50 metres without splits.

Lettering / logo's when drawn in a vector format can be enlarged time after time without losing clarity. Vector formats never suffer resolution issues. Large or small.

This a vector (line drawing with fill) that can be scaled to any size. You can see the quality difference. Click to see the non thumbnail sizing.

Below: This is a jpeg (bitmap or gif or png) when enlarged a little. Unless your bitmaps are of superb quality, design your logos in Vector. Use Corel or Illustrator so that lots of production houses can use your logo.

Final Tip: If you are making a new logo (in vector) dont include an outline.
Make it a contour. Otherwise, if you only select outline, it wont always scale and you will have lost the benefit of creating the vector.
The logo above looks like it has an outline, it isnt. It is a contour (a filled object)

This is by far the best way to draw using CAD.
I'll make a post on this for you under Tutorials.
